Schuylkill Technology Center offers open house

The Schuylkill Technology Center will host an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the North and South Campuses. The theme for the event is “Collecting 21st Century Skills.”

Prospective students will be given a bingo card upon arrival and will have the opportunity to perform a hands-on skill in each of the programs of study to earn a bingo stamp. They can then turn in their bingo cards at the end of the evening for a chance to win a Kindle Fire.

“We want the open house events to be as hands-on as possible, so that students can get a feel for what a typical day might be like at STC,” said Shannon Brennan, the center’s new director.

During the open house, parents will have an opportunity to meet with the instructors in each program area as well as speak with some industry partners that accept the center’s cooperative education students, provide advice on curriculum and/or hire graduates.

“The industry partnerships are an invaluable resource and really help parents see where an educational experience from STC can lead,” said T.J. Fitzpatrick, Cooperative Education Coordinator.

The Grille at the South Campus and The Restaurant at the North Campus, which are restaurants operated by the STC Culinary Programs, will be open for business during the open house.
