Tamaqua man violates PFA

Daniel McManus, 38, of Greenwood Street, Tamaqua, faces charges of contempt of court for violating a protection from abuse order that was issued on April 11.

Police were called to the 200 block of Greenwood Street at 9:49 p.m. on Sept. 23 for a disturbance. They heard raised voices, with a lot of yelling and screaming. A women said she and her friend were there for a birthday party, but when they tried to leave, McManus jumped in front of their car.

McManus said the driver ran him over.

A records check discovered the protection from abuse order barring him from any contact with one of the women from the party. McManus admitted having contact with the victim several times since April by phone

He was arraigned before duty District Judge James Reiley, of Pottsville, who set bail at $10,000 percentage. McManus was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.
