‘Art with a View’ showcases area talent

On Thursday Blue Mountain Ski Resort will host an evening of art, music and hors d’oeuvres for Carbon County Community Foundation’s “Art with a View” fundraiser.

CCCF partnered with Blue Mountain Ski Resort to raise money for the endowment’s Art Fund created by the foundation.

“Come join other creatives and art aficionados and appreciate the beauty and artistic bounty of the Carbon County region,” said CCCF’s Executive Director Amber Breiner.

This event will display works from 10 visual artists for sale during a live and silent auction while local musicians entertain the crowd over light fare.

“Our event committee members compiled a list of artists living and working in the region who are at or aspiring to professional levels of their craft,” she said.

“This time around, participation was by invitation only. However if we continue to do this event we may decide to issue an open call for artists to apply,” Breiner said.

This event was created by the foundation to raise awareness of the CCCF’s Arts Fund while showing “support to all of the amazing artists and creatives right here in Carbon County,” she said.

“The goal is for the money raised to keep working to stimulate arts initiatives in our community for years to come and grow over time,” Breiner said.

The funds raised will be up for grabs for individuals, groups and organizations, which may submit grant proposals based on the criteria described on the foundation’s website.

The Carbon County Creative Arts Fund was established to support artistic pursuits for the benefit of the Carbon County region. The foundation is committed to support nonprofit organizations, charitable programs and individuals pursuing the creative arts ranging from tangible works to music and film.

“We may be ready as soon as 2019 to begin awarding grants,” she said.

The mission of the CCCF is to elevate Carbon County to “be a place where artists are encouraged to hone and share their talents, where traditional and new forms of expression are welcome, and where opportunities for community members to engage with the arts are promoted throughout their lifetimes.”

Artists are Desha Utsick, Doug Didyoung, Edie Roeder, Jay Davenport, Lynn Shupp, Mary Coover, Mary Anne Shafer, Milan Melicharek, Randall Sellers and Stephanie Verme.

Musicians performing are Brett Andrew, Kyle O’Brien, Skyler Stabin, and Vince Degiosio and Christie McGorry.

The event will begin at 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. “Sharp-casual,” is recommended for the evening’s attire.

Tickets for this event are $40 per person or $75 per couple, and may be available at the door, but capacity is limited and advance registration is encouraged.
