Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua

Jim Thorpe capped a record-breaking regular season with a 4-1 victory over Tamaqua.

The Olympians end the regular season with a 13-2 overall record — the most wins ever in school history.

Leanne Van Essendelft and Kaitlyn O’Neil both earned singles’ play wins.

The Blue Raiders’ Miranda Chinchar posted a win at No. 2 singles.

Leandro Ramirez’s goal in overtime lifted Jim Thorpe to a 2-1 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.

Teammate Andrea Mazella was credited with the assist on the game-winning goal.

Ray O’Neil also scored for JT, while Jack Morris recorded the assist.

Luke Hoffner had the Indians’ lone goal.

Olympians’ keeper Kingsley Ehling made 10 saves, while Zack Andrews had nine.

Jim Thorpe moves to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the league. Lehighton falls to 3-9 and 1-8.

Pen Argyl-Palmerton

Stivan Letifov’s four goals and an assist sparked Pen Argyl to a 6-0 Colonial League win over Palmerton.

Mehmed Letifov and Jacob Slaughter both added single scores for the Green Knights, while Lucas Maggipinto was credited with two assists.

Palmerton goalie Bryce Yacone finished with 12 saves.

Palmerton falls to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the CL. Pen Argyl improves to 7-3 and 3-2.

North Schuylkill-Tamaqua

Nathaniel Noftz’s hat trick highlighted Tamaqua’s 4-0 Schuylkill League victory over North Schuylkill.

Jacob Rudy chipped in with a goal and two assists for the Blue Raiders (10-1 overall; 7-1 in SL), while Greg Davis and Noftz had one assist each.

Blue Raiders’ goalie Luke Verta made two saves to record the shutout.

Notre Dame ES-No. Lehigh

Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg cruised to an 8-1 non-league victory over Northern Lehigh.

Northern Lehigh slips to 0-13 overall, while NDES moves to 6-2-1.

GIRLS SOCCER

Notre Dame ES-No. Lehigh

Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg defeated Northern Lehigh in double overtime, posting a 3-2 non-league victory.

Shaina Mazzocca and Lexi Meckes recorded the Bulldogs’ goals.

Northern Lehigh falls to 2-12 overall.

Pleasant Valley-Salisbury

Quinn Wittman’s goal was all Salisbury needed to score a 1-0 non-league victory over Pleasant Valley.

The Falcons’ Hannah Mamay was credited with the assist.

Bears’ keeper Samantha Merklin finished with seven saves.

Pleasant Valley drops to 7-5 overall, while Salisbury improves to 10-3.

FIELD HOCKEY

No. Lehigh-Northwestern

Northwestern blanked Northern Lehigh for a 2-0 Colonial League win.

McKenzie Mosebach and Rachel Koerner scored the Tigers’ two goals.

Northwestern improves to 6-5-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the CL. Northern Lehigh slips to 9-5 overall and 8-2 in the league.

Nazareth-Lehighton

Peyton Mann’s goal in overtime helped Nazareth post a 4-3 non-league victory over Lehighton.

Karissa Hough, Mackenzie Hoats and Gabby Szoda all recorded goals for the Indians.

The Indians held a 17-16 edge in shots and a 15-7 difference in penalty corners.

Lehighton keeper Angelina Romito finished with 12 saves.

VOLLEYBALL

Lehighton-Catasauqua

Lehighton rolled to a 25-11, 25-9, 25-6 non-league victory over Catasauqua.

Alyssa Frey led the Indians with 14 assists, two kills and one ace. Lillian Brown (13 digs and three aces); Emily Miller (nine kills, two aces); Sophia Salerno (five kills, five digs); and Samantha Banning (10 digs, three aces) all contributed to the win.

Panther Vy.-Northwestern

Panther Valley posted a 25-14, 25-9, 25-14 non-league victory over Northwestern.

Leading the Panthers at the net were Rachelle Filer with 10 kills, Jenna Dubosky with eight kills, and Erika Dubosky with five kills. Erika Dubosky had a big day from the service line with 14 aces. Sarah Zabroski with 15 assists and Jenna Dubosky with 12 ran the offense.

The Panthers improve to 11-0 overall. Northwestern falls to 6-6.

CROSS COUNTRY

Marian at

NEPA Invitational

Marian took part in the NEPA Invitational at Bloomsburg University.

Nicole Capparell had the best outing for the Fillies as she finished in eighth place in the girls’ meet.

Carolyn Mehallo followed with a 74th-place finish.

Ean Chelak led the Colts with a 141st-place finish, while Gavin Vercusky ended up in 148th.

Palmerton at

Paul Short Run

Palmerton traveled to Lehigh University to take part in its Paul Short Run.

Trent Geist earned a Bombers’ best finish of 269th place.

The Blue Bombers’ Lily Bruer finished 282nd in the girls’ meet.

Tamaqua at

Carlisle Invitational

Tamaqua participated in the Carlisle Invitational.

Sarah Maue recorded a Blue Raiders’ best with a 15th-place finish, while teammate Frances Kabana followed right behind in 19th. Brianna Dumond recorded a top-50 finish in 33nd.

Derian Stianche led the Blue Raider boys with a 152nd-place finish, while Brandon Fogarty was close in 160th.
