$1K reward offered for information on break-ins at former Lehighton Kia dealership

A $1,000 cash reward is being offered for information on a pair of break-ins at the former Lehighton Kia dealership on Route 443.

Melissa Augustine, controller, said the first incident occurred on or around Sept. 5 in which the back windows of the former dealership were broke into and copper piping was removed.

Augustine said a second incident occurred the evening of Sept. 20 at the former site located at 21 Blakeslee Blvd Dr E, Lehighton,

She said the borough called the dealership to let them know the meter guy was at the former dealership to read the meter and he heard water running and saw it shooting around in the shop.

Augustine said the water meter was removed, as was a white container and the sink off the wall.

“It looked like they were throwing it down the bank and retrieving it,” Augustine said.

After the most recent break-in, Lehighton Kia took out an advertisement in the Times News.

The advertisement says that in order to keep the community safe, Lehighton Kia is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the apprehension of the individuals that broke in and took property from the former building.

All calls are confidential, and anyone with information should contact Lehighton Borough Police at 610-377-4003.

Earlier this year, Lehighton Kia opened its new dealership at 1502 Blakeslee Blvd Dr E, Lehighton, less than two miles away from its previous location.
