Burglar caught in the act

A Berks County resident was caught in the act of burglarizing a Monroe County home.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers responded to 200 Granite Road in Long Pond, around 6:30 a.m. on Friday for a report of a burglar alarm going off. On scene officers observed a back window to the home was broken out. While police were outside the home a person wearing dark clothing, gloves and a ski mask attempted to exit the home through the back window.

He was taken into custody and identified as Kyan Duran-Brioni, 21, of Reading. He later admitted that he came to the Poconos with the intention of burglarizing homes. He was taken to the county prison in Snydersville where he was arraigned on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, possession instruments of crime and criminal attempt to commit theft. He was committed to the jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.
