Woman charged with DUI in Summit Hill

A traffic stop made by Summit Hill police at 4:05 a.m. July 30 on West White Street in the borough resulted in a Kulpmont woman being arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police said they saw a slow-moving vehicle traveling on West White Street and made a stop because the vehicle’s rear brake light was not functioning. Police said they saw the driver, Susan Boylan, 57, and a passenger moving excessively inside the vehicle in what appeared to be an attempt to hide or conceal something.

When speaking to Boylan, police said, she could not answer questions, refused to comply with the officer’s orders, and became agitated, screaming while throwing items inside the vehicle.

Police said the woman was removed from the vehicle and agreed to submit to a series of field sobriety tests that police said she failed. She was taken into custody and transported to the St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale for a blood draw. Police said the results showed the presence of amphetamine, phenylpropanolamine and norbuprenorphine in her blood.
