CART benefit ride today

The Carbon County Animal Response Team will host its sixth annual “Hogs and Horses” benefit ride today.

Proceeds raised through the benefit will go toward furnishing equipment for Animal Response, but also toward a large animal haul trailer and truck that can be used for emergency evacuations.

But the event isn’t just for riders. It will be filled with prizes, displays and a fall scavenger hunt — which may come with a new twist this year.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. The cost is $20 per rider and $15 per passenger. The day starts at The Boatyard in Weissport.

Visitors are encouraged to bring along a can of dog food for Carbon Animal Shelter, or a canned cat food for Forgotten Felines.
