Mikovich named MAC Freedom Volleyball Player of the Week

Former Panther Valley standout Jamey Mikovich was recently named the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Player of the Week for women’s volleyball after leading the Wilkes University team to a 3-1 week.

It is the junior’s first career conference weekly award. Mikovich finished the week with a .258 hitting percentage, 3.38 kills-per-set and 4.19 digs-per-set. In 16 total sets played, the opposite hitter recorded 54 kills, 67 digs, 10 aces, eight blocks and six assists while only having 14 attack errors on 155 total attacks.

Mikovich had three double-doubles on the week. First, in a 3-1 setback to Lancaster Bible College on Thursday, she had 12 kills and 12 digs. Then on Saturday, she collected 15 kills and 23 digs in a 3-1 victory over Penn State Harrisburg and 14 kills and 24 digs in a 3-2 win against Shenandoah University.

She also recorded a career-high four aces against Shenandoah. Mikovich had 13 kills and eight digs in a sweep of Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday to start the week.

Mikovich has played in seven matches this season, and recorded team-high totals of 81 kills and 11 aces. Her 92 digs are second-best on the team.

Division 3 Wilkes is 6-2 overall heading into its first MAC Freedom match of the season on Wednesday against Manhattanville College.
