Monroe County crashes

State police at Stroudsburg have reported on the following crashes:

• A tractor trailer traveling east on Interstate 80 in Pocono Township was sideswiped by a vehicle that left the scene, state police reported. Jon P. Denny, 52, of Portage, Indiana, was driving the rig when a Chevrolet Suburban that was also traveling east attempted to merge into the left lane and struck the tractor trailer. Police said the Suburban left the scene. The rig sustained non-disabling damages to its passenger’s side panel and door step.

• State police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that happened at 4:06 p.m. Sept. 2 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township. Rakesh Patel, 40, of Piscataway, New Jersey, was driving a 2016 Honda southbound and was in the left lane of traffic when a Honda Civic that was also traveling south veered from the right lane and sideswiped Patel’s vehicle. After making contact with the vehicle, the Honda driver accelerated the vehicle and fled the scene. The victim’s vehicle sustained non-disabling damages to its passenger’s side front and rear doors.

• David G. Devita, 49, of Bushkill, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a four-vehicle crash at 12:03 p.m. Sunday on Route 209 (Milford Road) in Middle Smithfield Township. State police said he was driving a 2002 Jeep Cherokee westbound when it struck the rear of a 2009 Suzuki operated by Louis J. Wolverton, 20, also of Bushkill. The Cherokee then continued to strike a 2015 Subaru Outback driven by Kelly Camacho, 45, also of Bushkill, and a 2016 Honda Accord operated by Svetlana Litvin, 43, of Staten Island, New York. No one was injured in the crash.
