A Jim Thorpe man is in custody after stealing various items from a home in East Penn Township.

Nathaniel Goff, 19, of the 800 block of Lehigh Street, faces charges on two counts each of burglary — overnight accommodations, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property, and criminal trespass, along with one count of criminal mischief.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Christine Lashinski of the Lehighton State Police barracks:

At 3:35 p.m. Aug. 24, Lashinski responded to a home on Sam Brooke Circle in East Penn Township for the report of a burglary.

Upon her arrival, she met with the victim, who said he and his wife were on vacation in Florida between the dates of Aug. 8 and Aug. 24.

Upon returning home at 8 a.m. Aug. 24, they observed items missing, including a TV, iPad mini 3, one earring, an iPhone SE, two computers, an Adidas book bag, two cameras, Xbox one, golf clubs, a drone with camera, Under Armour hoodie, Under Armour bookbag, $1,000 in cash, and other items.

They said they knew the people who stole the items, naming Goff and a 17-year-old male.

The victim said that his neighbor witnessed two males around his property between the hours of 8-11 p.m. Aug. 20.

While on scene, Lashinski observed a damaged bedroom window screen.

At 3:45 p.m. Aug. 24, Lashinski interviewed the victim’s neighbor, who said that he witnessed two males knock on the front door. He then watched the two walk to the side of the house, and that they arrived in a blue Chevrolet Blazer.

At 5 p.m. Aug. 24, Lashinski responded to the residence on Sam Brook Circle were both suspects were present in the residence and a blue Chevrolet Blazer registered to Goff was parked in the driveway.

Trooper Justin Magluilo and Lashinki questioned both suspects about the burglary, and both admitted to breaking into the home and stealing items from inside.

Both suspects were taken into police custody and transported to Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton barracks for questioning.

At 6 p.m., Goff consented to a custodial written statement and said that at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 20, and again on Aug. 21, he and the 17-year-old male broke into the residence and stole items from inside.

The 17-year-old male, while in the presence of his mother, was interviewed and agreed to a custodial written statement and also admitted to breaking into the residence.

He said he and Goff cut a bedroom window screen in order to gain access to an unlocked window, and that once inside, they stole items from the residence.

During the interview, the 17-year-old said some of the items that they stole were sold or destroyed.

Goff is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 19 at the office of District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.

Goff is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000, 10 percent bail.
