August 15, 1957 — A big game from George Barron propels Tamaqua to a decisive 12-2 victory over Nesquehoning in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament. Barron collects three hits, two of them homers and the other one a double, and also earns the pitching win. Barron belts a two-run blast in the first inning to open the scoring, and adds another two-run shot in the fourth. He strikes out three and walks four from the mound. Carl Hafer drills a solo homer for the winners, while Bob Myers chips in with a hit and two runs scored.
