Police: Man spit in guard’s face

A Weissport man spit in a corrections officer’s face while in the county prison being booked other charges, according to police.

Jeffrey Duane Hosier Jr., 30, of Bridge Street, was charged by Nesquehoning police with aggravated harassment by a prisoner for an incident on June 14.

Officers were dispatched to the prison after being notified that a new inmate that was brought in by Mahoning Township police spit on a corrections officer during the booking process.

Surveillance video showed Hosier not complying with directions and being sprayed with pepper spray before being restrained and taken to the showers to be decontaminated.

When he was brought back to booking, he again resisted and fought with corrections officers before spitting in one of their faces.

Hosier said that the incident was an accident because of the pepper spray.
