August 10, 1963 — Coaldale’s Tony Kruzik blasts a three-run homer to help the West team post a 10-8 victory over the East team in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament All-Star Game. Kruzik’s clout also earns him MVP honors. The East receives homers from Jim Thorpe’s Mike Slivka and Randy Smith. Players also participate in a skills competition. Some of the winners include Nesquehoning’s Tom Kokurka (greatest hitting distance), Slivka (distance throw and 60-yard dash), Summit Hill’s John Fada (barrel throw for catchers), and Nesquehoning’s Mike Kravelk and Lansford’s John Stanko (circling the bases).
