Tamaqua swimmers earned a number of first-place finishes, and also set four new records, at the Anthracite Swim League Championships.

The annual event was held at Blue Mountain Middle School.

Erika Zimmerman collected three firsts and broke two of the old records. The 14-year-old set new standards in her age category in the 500 free (5:29.31) and the 50 back (30.33).

Lydia Strucko matched Zimmerman with three individual victories. The 8-year-old also broke the record in her age group in the 100 free, establishing a new mark with a time of 1:20.83.

The other record that was set came from three-event winner Alexis Buchala, who took the 500 free, 200 free, and 50 fly in her age group. Buchala, a 12-year-old, finished the 500 in a record-setting time of 6:31.56.

Emily Newton and Katie Behun captured two firsts at the meet. Newton, a 15-year-old, won the 100 IM and 50 breast, while Behun, a 7-year-old, won the 25 back and 25 fly.

Other firsts came from Joey Lescavage, Brandon Temarantz, Will Behun, and Stephen Behun.
