August 6, 2011 — Panther Valley graduate and Indiana University senior Allysa Vavra swims a personal best in the 200 meter breaststroke at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships in Palo Alto, California. Vavra finishes in 26th place with a time of 2:33.31, which also sets a new IU record. The previous mark was the 2:33.57 she recorded in the preliminaries. Vavra, who qualifies for a roster spot for the Pan Am games with her performance, also competes in the 400 medley relay in which the Hoosiers end 14th with a time of 4:14.11.
