July 30, 1968 — Ron Carulli collects four hits to help Summit Hill roll to a 10-3 victory over Tamaqua in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament. Two of Carulli’s hits go for doubles, and the offensive star of the game also scores three runs. Gary Evans contributes three hits and also scores a run for the Hillers, who trail 1-0 after three innings before exploding for five runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth. Winning pitcher Joe Vermillion, who allows just two hits, helps his own cause by hitting a home run. Rich Porambo chips in with a hit and run scored.
