Police say man involved in violent domestic assault

A man has been accused of a violent domestic assault in the Danielsville area.

Brant William Kloiber, no fixed address, allegedly choked the mother of his child until she was unconscious, jumped on her back and smashed her head into a trailer during a domestic dispute on July 20.

He was arrested and jailed following the incident.

According to court documents, police in Lehigh Township, Northampton County were called to a gas station on Mountain View Drive around 8:30 a.m. to meet a woman who said Kloiber had just assaulted her.

The woman told police that she and Kloiber stayed in an RV at an address in Lehigh Township the night before, and she had asked him to assist with taking care of their child overnight.

When the woman woke up, Kloiber was gone, and she attempted to contact him.

She said Kloiber returned to the RV around 7:30 a.m. and she confronted him about helping with the care of their son.

She said Kloiber then became angry and “took her to the ground” with his arm around her neck, and choked her three times inside the RV. She said each time she lost consciousness.

She said he proceeded to throw her out of the RV onto the ground, and jumped onto her back, dragged her across the grass, and smashed her head into a nearby livestock trailer.

Following the attack Kloiber locked her outside the RV, but eventually let the woman inside to retrieve her phone and purse. She was then able to leave the scene and call police.

Police transported the victim from the gas station to the Lehigh Township Police Station where she provided a statement. They observed injuries, or evidence that she was in an altercation. She had grass stains and dirt on her clothes and body.

An officer called Kloiber’s cellphone, and he reported he was at his ex-wife’s home in Catasauqua with his son. Catasauqua Police then took him into custody and he was extradited to Northampton County.

Kloiber denied choking the victim, and told police she fell over a missing step on the RV. He said he had left the property earlier that morning to go to Dunkin’ Donuts and visit his shop.

Kloiber said after the victim left the scene, he decided to take his son to see his daughter in Catasauqua.

Lehigh Township Police charged Kloiber with aggravated assault and strangulation. He is currently jailed in Northampton County Prison on $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 3 before Magisterial District Judge Robert A. Hawke.
