Police: Man forced woman to strip, threatened her with machete

A Lehighton man has been accused of holding a woman at his home against her will for more than four hours, forcing her to strip naked and threatening her with a machete.

Cory Hunsicker, 41, of the 800 block of North First Street, was charged Friday by Mahoning Township Police in connection with the July 5 incident.

That night around 11 p.m. a woman arrived at the Mahoning Township Police station and said she had just left Hunsicker’s home after being held against her will since around 4 p.m.

The woman said she was lured to the house by a friend who said they would meet there with Hunsicker. The friend said to make sure Hunsicker was there before she arrived.

But after the victim waited for some time, she realized the friend was not coming.

When she attempted to leave, she said Hunsicker accused her of stealing money, and threatened her with a machete which he sharpened. He demanded that she remove her clothes, which she initially refused, but ultimately did out of fear.

She said Hunsicker was ‘talking crazy’ and indicated he thought she was part of a conspiracy against him. She said he falsely believed there were other people in the home who she was talking to, and that he stabbed mattresses with the machete.

The woman said Hunsicker told her that he had stabbed another woman who needed 14 stitches as a result.

The woman said that her mother eventually came to the house around 10:30 p.m. and Cory let her leave as a result.

Hunsicker was charged with making terroristic threats and false imprisonment. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 29.

According to court records, Hunsicker was out on bail in an assault and harassment case in Jim Thorpe in February.
