Injuries are averted in three-vehicle crash

Eight people — including three youths — escaped injuries in a three-vehicle crash at 10:01 p.m. June 30 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks investigated and said a 2005 Jeep Cherokee driven by Kyla M. Chabok, 21, of Saylorsburg, collided with two vehicles, a 2009 Toyota Scion operated by Mary Katherine Lento, 19, of Saylorsburg, and a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Emily Shaffer, 35, of Albrightsville.

In addition to the three drivers, four occupants of the Town and Country, including 31-year-old Samuel Shaffer and the three youths, ages 3, 5 and 7, were not hurt, nor was Michael W. Formato, 20, of Kunkletown, who was a passenger with Lento.

Police were assisted at the scene by the West End Fire Company, St. Luke’s EMS and Borger’s Towing.

Police said Chabok was cited for careless driving.
