Franklin remains unbeaten in PV tourney

Franklin Township Maroon stayed undefeated with a win over Tri-County in the Panther Valley 9-10-Year-Old Little League Tournament. Tamaqua also picked up a victory in the tournament.

PV 9-10 Tournament

Tri County-Franklin Twp.

Franklin Township Maroon remained undefeated with a 12-1 win over Tri County.

Cole Dietz was the winning pitcher for Franklin (5-0), allowing just two hits in four innings, while recording nine strikeouts.

Dietz, Carter Bellis, Jayse Lawrence, Zoltan Bedocs, Konner Nalesnik, Aston Wentz and Dante Angelus all had one hit apiece for Franklin.

Anthracite-Tamaqua

Tamaqua rolled to a 12-2 win over Anthracite.

Evan Meckes, Ana Ackerman, Brayden Houser and Brady McCabe all racked up multiple hits for Tamaqua. McCabe led the way with three hits, including two triples and a double. Jake Yenser pitched three innings, allowing two hits and no runs.

Anthracite racked up seven hits in the game.

PV 11-12 Tournament

Towamensing-Tamaqua 12

Tyler Shollenberger’s huge night at the plate propelled Towamensing to a 17-5 win over Tamaqua last Friday.

Shollenberger hit his first career home run in the second inning, and added a three-run shot in the fourth to put the mercy rule into effect, finishing with five RBIs. Dalton Rumfield (3-for-4, four runs scored) and Corey Serfass (2-for-3, run scored) also helped spark the offense, while Mason George struck out seven of the nine batters he faced.

Styka and Oswald both went 1-for-2 with a run scored for Tamaqua.

Towamensing-Tamaqua 11

Towamensing edged Tamaqua 7-5 recently.

JJ Jacoby was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Towamensing. AJ Borger was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Krell was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Karpulk finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Tamaqua.

Towamensing-Tri County

Dylan Hartranft and Mason George powered Towamensing to a 15-4 win over Tri County.

Hartranft went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while George added two hits and scored twice.
