Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in S. Hill

A Nesquehoning man has been arrested by Summit Hill police for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at 10:15 p.m. July 3 in the area of the Ginter Field, Amidon Street.

Police said Colby Newton, 19, of West Railroad Street, was taken into custody following a traffic stop.

Police said they smelled an odor of burned marijuana coming from the vehicle and discovered 8.6 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a backpack belonging to Newton that was in the vehicle.

Police said they stopped the vehicle after observing two juveniles hanging out of the car on their backs with the doors wide open.
