Tamaqua Police file charges in domestics

Several people were recently charged by Tamaqua police in connection with domestic disputes.

• Judith Mueller, 75, and Stephanie Lynn Giove, 32, both of West Broad Street, Tamaqua, each received a citation for harassment after a disturbance on June 29. Police were called to the women’s home at 2:40 a.m. Each claimed they struck the other in self-defense. Mueller had a bleeding wound on her right arm and Giove had scratches on her face.

• Samantha Marie Beiland, 18, of Mahanoy City, was charged with harassment after an altercation with a Tamaqua woman on June 30. The fight took place at 12:30 a.m. in the 300 block of North Elizabeth Street.

• Robert C. Hibbler, 68, of Pine Street, Tamaqua, was charged with harassment and public drunkenness after he chased and pushed a woman on North Railroad Street on July 4. Police said he was visibly intoxicated and was taken to jail. He was later released into the custody of his daughter.

• Carina Elizabeth Leach, 21, of North Railroad Street, Tamaqua, was charged with simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and harassment after she threw a glass mug at another woman’s head. The mug struck the victim in the shoulder, leaving a bruise. The possession charge was due to officers finding a glass smoking device, with burned residue, in Leach’s bedroom.
