A Tamaqua man was cited after what could be described as a road rage incident on Owl Creek Road on July 3.

Police were contacted at 11:45 a.m. by a motorist who had been traveling west on Owl Creek Road, maintaining the 35 mph speed limit, when he was almost sideswiped by a man driving a green Saturn with Florida license plates. The Saturn passed him in a no-passing zone.

The driver of the Saturn also stopped by the police station and was identified as George Pappas, 76, of East Broad Street, Tamaqua. Pappas said he passed because the other driver was going too slowly. He was cited for unlawful passing.
