Former ESU student charged with stalking professor

A former East Stroudsburg University student is charged with harassing and stalking a professor there, the Monroe County District Attorney’s office said Friday.

Tabitha Golembeski, 23, of Swoyersville, Luzerne County, sent the professor a total of nine letters (mail and hand delivered), as well as made at least fourteen phone calls, and two separate communications to a family member of the victim via Facebook, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

“Golembeski has over the last several months demonstrated her unwillingness to stop contacting the victim despite several letters issued to her from the University. Her persistent nature and course of conduct spanning over one and a half years has not only placed the victims in emotional distress but also demonstrated her mental instability,” the affidavit continued.

Golembeski is in Monroe County Prison on $2,500 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 23.
