Fifth annual Adventure Race to be held in Lehighton

Carbon County’s fifth annual Adventure Race will provide attendees with a combination of both physical and mental challenges.

This year’s race will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on July 28 at Foothill Farms in Lehighton. The event is hosted by the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation’s Future Leaders Council with the goal of encouraging others to come together, go outdoors and be active within their community.

“It’s a different kind of race,” said Alice Wannamaker, CCEDC’s assistant vice president for the northern region.

Although activities are kept secret until race day, the event usually involves a trivia portion and some kind of water element. Activities from previous year’s races include a waterslide, tire push and cornhole.

Even though adventure racing is not specific to Carbon County, the course is currently being designed by the Future Leaders of Carbon County to create a unique experience for everyone involved.

The 108-acre farm, known for its Christmas trees, fresh produce and livestock products, will add a distinct twist to this year’s race. The large amount of available space will give participants the chance to partake in a not-so-secret activity, human foosball.

The adventure race is open to both individuals and teams of two or more, as well as businesses who want to use the event as a team building exercise.

Individuals will be given the opportunity to form a connection with another race attendee since people will be paired off.

Teams made up of two members can register for $50 and individuals can register for $30.
