Carbon County court — DUI

Three defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and related charges were sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II imposed sentences on the following;

Tanya Marie Conklin

, 40, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and her license was suspended for a year.

She was arrested on Feb. 26 along Interchange Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

William J. Kostak Jr.

, 57, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, pay a fine of $1,000 and his license was suspended for a year. He was given credit for 63 days already spent in prison on the charge and paroled.

He arrested on Aug. 21, 2014, by Franklin Township police along Canal Road. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.

Kostak is currently an inmate in the county prison facing other charges.

Michael T. Everett

, 42, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and his license was suspended for a year.

On a charge of driving under suspension, DUI related, he was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail and pay a fine of $1,000. The jail terms run concurrently.

He was arrested on Sept. 30, 2016, by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He began serving the jail term on July 6 at 8 a.m. and will serve it on consecutive three-day weekends of Friday through Monday.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
