Pleasant Valley officials will be addressing concerns about a proposed roundabout with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials tonight.
The meeting takes place at 7 p.m. at the district’s buildings and grounds meeting.
In April Pleasant Valley Superintendent David Piperato sent a letter to the PennDOT requesting modifications to the current design for a roundabout that is planned for Route 209.
In the letter Piperato discussed three conceptual layouts that had been presented to the school as possible locations for the roundabout.
In the letter Piperato points out that the district prefers a particular plan which would locate the roundabout further south on Route 209, which would allow students to exit from the existing driveway before entering the roundabout.
The main reason for the requested change is for the safety of students and pedestrian traffic in the area in front of the high school building.
The district has invited local elected official to the meeting to request their support with the request before PennDOT. State Sen. Mario Scavello, R-40th District; state Rep. Jack Rader, R-176th District; Rosemary Brown, R-189th District; Maureen Madden, D-115th District; and Chestnuthill Township Supervisor Chuck Gould have all indicated that they will be in attendance.
PennDOT representatives will also be in attendance.
