Schuylkill driver facing charges

A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following an incident on Saturday around 12:30 a.m.

State police at Frackville said Candice Koles, 33, of Kaska, Blythe Township, was operating a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek northbound on Pine Creek Drive when she allegedly swerved to avoid a deer. The Subaru then collided with and damaged mailboxes in the 1200 block of Pine Creek Drive as well as a concrete post with four newspaper boxes attached to it. The vehicle continued off the road and collided with a concrete retaining wall on Pine Creek Drive.

Koles failed to stop at the scene and continued north with damage to her vehicle. She traveled another 3.5 miles and finally stopped on Ferndale Road outside of New Philadelphia. The Subaru then became disabled due to severe front end damage. Koles then parked the vehicle in a wooded area and went home. At 8:48 a.m. she called police and a tow truck.

Koles has been charged with multiple traffic violations.
