Nesquehoning man faces assault charges

A Nesquehoning man faces simple assault and harassment charges for threatening his wife.

On June 20, Nesquehoning police officer Timothy Wuttke was dispatched to a home on the 400 block of East Catawissa Street.

The victim told police she was in an argument with her husband, identified as Benvenuto Cellini, 56, when he accused her of talking to another man and listing herself on a “prostitute website.”

The argument escalated when Cellini began calling her names, spitting in her face and put his closed fist in her face while yelling at her. He then left the home with her cellphone and two illegal guns.

Police were eventually able to contact Cellini, who said he had caught his wife selling herself on the internet and he planned to file for divorce, but denied spitting in her face or lifting his fist toward her.
