St. Jerome’s honors eighth-grade graduates

St. Jerome Regional School held an eighth-grade graduation ceremony recently. The graduating class consisted of nine students who received a variety of awards for their outstanding work both in the classroom and in the community:

Jay Burton: Francis G. Roman Award for Outstanding Science and a certificate of appreciation for service as student council homeroom representative.

Bryan Cervasio, Knights of Columbus Award for Excellence in Social Studies; Knights of Columbus Mr. Robert H. Byatt Memorial Award for Excellence in Religion; Monsignor William E. Jones Award for Excellence in Mathematic and the President’s Award for Educational Achievement.

Parker Cheslock: Bernard B. Coleman Award for Excellence in Computers.

Chloe Hiles: the St. Jerome Regional School Award for Excellence in Religion; Home and School Association Award for Outstanding Service; President’s Award for Educational Achievement; Good Citizenship Award presented by the state office of Sen. David G. Argall; certificate of appreciation for service as newspaper correspondent for the Standard Speaker; certificate of appreciation for service as Student Council President; certificate of appreciation as Mission Representative and a certificate of appreciation for service as student ambassador.

Matthew Holloman: St. Jerome Regional School Award for the highest general average; Knights of Columbus Award for Excellence in Mathematics; Reverend Edward Coleman Award for Excellence in Religion; Mary Ellen Coleman Award for Excellence in Science; President’s Award for Educational Excellence and the Principal’s Award, which is given for attaining honors for three trimesters.

Maria Onea: the St. Vincent de Paul Society Award for Outstanding Service, Home and School Association Award for Outstanding Service, Sister Regina Alma Award for Outstanding Service, certificate of appreciation for service as newspaper correspondent for the Standard Speaker, certificate of appreciation for service for Mission Representative, certificate of appreciation for service as altar server for St. John XXIII Church and a certificate for coming in first place in the Race for Education.

Paris Sevinsky: Knights of Columbus Award for Excellence in English; Mary Ellen Roman Award for Outstanding Service and a certificate of appreciation for service as Mission Representative.

Anthony Soberick: Bernard J. Coleman Award for Outstanding Science and a certificate of appreciation for service as altar server at Immaculate Conception Church.

Daniel Stein: Knights of Columbus Award for Excellence in Science, Sister Marie Eymard Award for Excellence in Social Studies and a certificate of appreciation for service as Student Ambassador.

The following students have received the Bishop’s Award and will receive a partial scholarship to Marian High School, Bryan Cervasio, Chloe Hiles, Matthew Holloman and Anthony Soberick. Paris Sevinsky was also awarded with a partial scholarship to Marian High School through the Florence Arner Moyer Scholarship.

Students who were awarded the President’s Award for Educational Achievement will receive a letter from President Donald Trump and a certificate from Betsy DeVos, the United States Secretary of Education.

Students who have maintained a 90 general average in grades 4 through 8 were awarded the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. Recipients of this award will also receive a letter from President Donald Trump and a certificate from Betsy DeVos, the United States Secretary of Education.
