Nesquehoning man faces charges after fleeing officers

A Nesquehoning man faces multiple charges after he tried to flee probation officers.

On June 22, Nesquehoning patrolman Carl Breiner was called to the 200 block of Stock Street by Carbon County Adult Probation officers who were at the scene.

Leonard Rehatchek III, 29, of Stock Street, was in custody when he arrived but was bleeding from both hands and had no shoes on.

Probation officers told Breiner that Rehatchek was under the influence of methamphetamine when they arrived. Rehatchek had been released from jail a week earlier and was currently on probation.

The officers said Rehatchek had several items related to drugs in his shorts.

During the search, Rehatchek began getting aggressive and uncooperative and as the probation officers tried to place him under arrest, he jumped through a closed window in the second-flood bedroom and fled into the woods.

He was eventually taken into custody after he was found hiding in the brush.

Rehatchek faces charges of escape, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
