Driver lands in dense brush alongside Coaldale road

A woman escaped serious injury during a one-vehicle crash at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Coaldale when her car plunged into brush alongside the road.

The woman was traveling south on Route 209 (Water Street) in Coaldale when her car went off the left side of the highway at the intersection with Dock Street, Lansford, at the Coaldale-Lansford boundary.

The vehicle traveled through dense brush for about 50 feet, landing at the foot of an incline.

She had to be extricated by fire department personnel.

Responding were the Coaldale and Lansford Fire Departments and the Lehighton Ambulance. She was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital-Miner’s campus in Coaldale. Coaldale police are in charge of the investigation. They were assisted at the scene by Lansford police. Fire police from Coaldale and Lansford handled traffic control. Traffic was detoured off Route 209 to East Phillips Street in Coaldale and West Bertsch Street in Lansford.
