Franklin stays alive in D18 LL tourney

Franklin Township stayed alive in the District 18 Little League tournament with a win over Hazle Township on Thursday.

LITTLE LEAGUE

District 18 11-12

Hazle Twp.-Franklin Twp.

Elliott Ahner had two hits, one a homer, and knocked in three runs Thursday to help Franklin Township post a 7-6 victory over Hazle Township to stay alive in the tournament.

Michael Yeakel added three hits, a run and an RBI, while Austin Greene contributed two hits, two runs and an RBI.

The winners, who trailed 6-4 but tallied two runs in the fifth to tie the game and pushed across a run in the sixth to win it, also received a hit and two RBIs from Talan Sensinger.

Greene and Aiden Rarick split the pitching duties for FT. Greene started and struck out six, while Rarick relieved and was credited with the victory.

District 18 8-10

Franklin Township-

Towamensing

Jason Carrelli and Luke Matsko both had two hits to lead Towamensing to an 8-1 victory over Franklin Township.

Alex Keiper, Calen Sell, Josh Turner, and Caleb Jacoby all had one hit for the winners.

Keiper was the winning pitcher, allowing just two hits in five innings.

For FT, Cole Dietz and Carter Bellis each had a hit.

BLUE MOUNTAIN LEAGUE

Egypt-Berlinsville

Joel Bartoni pitched a two-hit shutout as the first-place Egypt Orioles handed the Berlinsville Braves a 2-0 defeat.

Pete Violante suffered the hard-luck loss, as both hurlers blanked their opponents through the first four frames.

Jeison Peralta had a hit and knocked in two runs for the Orioles (14-5).

Northwestern graduate Jake Augustus had both hits for the Braves (8-11).
