FT posts two wins in tourney

The Birches fell in legion play, while Franklin Township posted two shutouts in Hazleton’s 7-8 Little League tournament.

A sixth-inning run broke a tie and lifted East Stroudsburg to a 7-6 win over the Birches Tuesday.

Luis Francisco collected three hits and knocked in three runs for the winners.

For the Birches (4-10), Brent Beck had a pair of hits and knocked in four runs. Cam Lawson chipped in with a double.

Hazleton 7-8 Tourney

FT-Tamaqua

An 18-hit attack powered Franklin Township to a 17-0 victory over Tamaqua Sunday.

Gavin Kester paced the offense with a triple and grand slam, finishing with seven RBIs. Logan Bellis collected three hits, and struck out three batters during a scoreless inning.

Dominic Lawrence and Grant Birnbaum finished with three hits apiece, while Chase Llewellyn delivered a three-run triple.

FT- Hazleton

A balanced offensive attack and a combined perfect game lifted Franklin Township to a 13-0 win over Hazleton on Monday.

Grant Birnbaum tossed two frames, fanning six, while Brayden Ulshafer, Dominic Lawrence, Cash White and Logan Bellis all made key defensive plays.

White had three hits and three RBIs, and Lawrence contributed three hits and scored three runs.

The winners also received two hits and three runs from Bellis, and two hits and two RBIs from Parker Rodgers. Braylon Hunsicker also had a pair of hits and two runs.
