Drink what, where the Founding Fathers did

Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society will present Drinking with the Founding Fathers at the Bachmann Publick House at 4 p.m. June 30.

Bethlehem resident and author of “Mint Juleps with Teddy Roosevelt: The Complete History of Presidential Drinking,” Mark Will-Weber will tell true tales of the Founding Fathers’ and presidents’ drinking habits. In addition to his successful books, Will-Weber has been featured in The New York Times and Men’s Health.

To complement the evening’s talk, Glenn Shay of McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar will provide the cocktails and an in-depth knowledge about the drinks being served.

The Bachmann Publick House was built in 1753. It served as a tavern which provided locals and travelers with sleeping rooms, meeting areas, dining and drinking spaces. It also served as the first courthouse of Northampton County. Visitors included Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, George Taylor and other signers of the Declaration of Independence.

This is a ticketed even and seating is limited, so reservations are required.
