Berlinsville, Carbon Monarchs both post wins

The Berlinsville Braves and Carbon Monarchs posted wins in recent baseball action.

BLUE MTN. LEAGUE

Limeport-Berlinsville

Ryan Miller and Josh Kern combined on a four-hit shutout Tuesday to lead the Berlinsville Braves to a 1-0 victory over the Limeport Dodgers.

Miller went the first six frames, allowing the four hits while striking out seven. Kern, a Lehighton graduate, tossed a scoreless seventh to earn the save. Kern struck out two of the batters he faced.

The Braves (6-8) tallied the game’s only run in the fifth inning when Matt Miller’s hit plated Andrew Roth. Miller had two hits in the contest, and Chris Rebar added a double.

Carbon-W. Allentown

The Carbon Monarchs used a seventh-inning rally Monday to pull out a 4-2 win over West Allentown.

Held scoreless through the first six frames, Carbon’s Mason Barndt, Logan Pagotto and Noah Snisky all reached to load the bases in the seventh.

Brad Buzzard delivered a two-run double to tie the game, and after Jake Schwartz was intentionally walked, Aaron Miller came through with a two-run single.

In the bottom half, Mason Goida worked around a leadoff single and two-out walk to earn the save.

Pagotto collected two hits and a walk, while Snisky was on base four times with a triple and three walks. Justin Mahmde allowed just two hits in six innings, striking out six, to gain the victory.

The win upped the Monarchs record to 5-6.
