Optimus Prime replica coming to Palmerton car show

Get ready for some souped-up street rods, cool convertibles and even a few robots in disguise.

The Pace-Makers Association’s Palmerton Car Show will include all those vehicles and more at the Borough Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Awards will be presented in 25 categories, including best convertible, best graphics, Mayor’s Choice, best getaway car and oldest vehicle.

One of the highlights for this year’s show is the Transformers replicas — Autobots Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, along with Decepticon Barricade. Over two dozen artists and fabricators pitched in to build the Optimus Prime replica, a 2017 Western Star 5700 XE, ensuring that no detail was overlooked on the project.

The event will be free for spectators, and $10 for those looking to display their vehicle. Registration will run from 10 a.m. to noon, and awards will be announced at 2:30 p.m. Dash plaques will be provided for the first 100 cars. Proceeds from the event will benefit local youth recreation and sports organizations.
