Lions club prepares for Carbon County Fair

The Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club will be held at 6:30 p.m. on June 28 at the St Luke’s University Health Network — Gnaden Huetten Community Room.

At the meeting, club members will create their group display to enter in this year’s Carbon County Fair.

All club members are encouraged to attend and assist with this project.

Community members are also encouraged to place used eyeglasses at any of the following Lehighton locations: Lehighton High Rise, First Street; Lehighton Library, South Street, Jim Thorpe National Bank, 4th Street; Mallard Market, 2nd Street; Lehighton Municipal Building, 2nd Street; Giant Food Market at the Carbon Plaza Mall; Lehighton American Legion; Walmart Eye Care Center; Dematte Chiropractic, Interchange Road; and St Luke’s University Health Network — Gnaden campus, 12th Street, Lehighton.

Last month, more than 65 pair of eyeglasses and lens sets were collected at the various locations by club member Dale Reeder.

Anyone needing financial assistance with eyeglasses can call 570-325-8685.

There are financial guidelines that must be followed by all applicants and a written application must be completed and approved.

Anyone interested in becoming involved with the club is asked to contact co-membership chairwoman Felicia Sue Anthony at 484-629-0590.
