Shupp named Most Valuable Athlete at PSAC track & field championships

Shippensburg University track standout Austin Shupp ended his college career on a high note when he received the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men’s track & field Most Valuable Athlete award following the outdoor championships at Slippery Rock University.

For Shupp, a Palmerton High School graduate, it was the second consecutive year that he captured the award.

During this year’s meet, he finished second in the 110-meter hurdles, third in the 400-meter hurdles, sixth in the long jump, and contributed to a second-place finish on the 1600 meter relay and a fourth-place finish on the 400 meter relay. Shupp’s versatility added up to a total of 30 team points.

Shupp was named Division II all-region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles. He also owns the school indoor record for the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.09 that he recorded in 2017.

Shupp’s performance helped Shippensburg extend its historic run to 10 consecutive PSAC Outdoor Championships.
