Palmerton sets summer concert series

The Summer Concert Series kicks off in Palmerton on Sunday, ringing in a season of great tunes at the legendary bandstand in the park.

Highlighting a diverse collection of musical acts, the series is the product of the the Concourse Club’s Bandstand Committee, which has been fundraising and organizing the event for more than 20 years.

“We’re really looking forward to it this year. We think it’s a good variety of music types,” committee member Emily Bradbury said.

Palmerton’s Band will conduct three performance throughout the summer. Other highlights include oldies group The Large Flowerheads, polka players The Pennsylvania Villagers and country act The Scott Marshall Band.

“The Villagers are always fun, and the Marine Band of Allentown will be very special,” Bradbury said.

Bradbury said that the Series has always been a labor of love for a small group of community-minded people looking to provide stand-out entertainment for their neighbors.

“It’s a coming together of volunteers who are interested in providing music to the community,” Bradbury said.

The Summer Concert series runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sundays through August 19.
