Woman attacked by dogs in Monroe

A 78-year-old woman was attacked by two dogs that got loose during the storm last week.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said the incident happened at 4:30 p.m. May 15.

The victim, who lives on Alder Road, East Stroudsburg, suffered many lacerations and bite wounds.

Police said a large tree fell down during the violent storm, landing on a fence and creating an escape for the two dogs. The woman, who is a neighbor, heard the tree fall and walked outside. The dogs “mauled” her and dragged her down the road.

The woman was able to crawl back into her residence where she called 911.

Police said the dogs returned to their yard, where they were securely kenneled. Police said they are licensed and vaccinated and were not left untethered.

No criminal charges are being filed.
