Coaldale Memorial Day services

The Coaldale UVO will hold its 2018 Memorial Day services on Sunday.

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Thomas M. Frendak will be the main speaker. Frendak served on active duty Army for 23 years as an engineer officer.

He is a 1975 graduate of Panther Valley High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in geology from Kutztown University and a Master of Science in geoenvironmental studies from Shippensburg University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the U.S. Army Airborne School and U.S. Army Ranger School, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Frendak currently serves on the board of directors for Society of American Military Engineers Chesapeake Post and is a National Fellow. He volunteers for various nonprofit organizations to assist veterans and wounded warriors to include the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Volunteer Guides for Veterans and Keystone Warriors.

Frendak is married to the former Lorna Brown of Hatboro. They have a son and a daughter and three grandsons.

The first service will be held at the Seek Memorial beginning at 1 p.m. The second service will be held at the town hall and will begin at 2:30 p.m. In case of rain, there will only be one memorial service at the Coaldale Complex Auditorium beginning at 2 p.m.
