Man in custody after Schuylkill fire incident

A man is in custody after setting fire to his home after a domestic incident.

On Saturday afternoon state troopers were dispatched to a home along Goose Pond Road in East Brunswick township for a domestic dispute involving a married couple.

According to reports on the scene, when the man saw the troopers arrive he set the dwelling on fire.

He then ran from the scene with troopers stating he had a gun.

Firefighters from New Ringgold, West Penn and Deer Lake distinguished the flames. Troopers carrying assault rifles searched the area for the man.

Two hours later West Penn township police received a tip the male was in their jurisdiction. A short time later they made a felony stop of a sport utility vehicle just north of the South Tamaqua intersection and took the man into custody.

He was then turned over to troopers of the Frackville barracks.
