Blue Raiders in wild card playoff
Tamaqua will be part of a three-way tie-breaker for the Schuylkill League baseball Division 1 wild card berth after defeating Lehighton on Wednesday.
In other baseball action, Panther Valley clinched a District 11 playoff berth.
Lehighton-Tamaqua
Tamaqua defeated Lehighton in Schuylkill League action. 7-4.
The Tamaqua victory, coupled with Pottsville’s victory over North Schuylkill, creates a three-way tie between the Raiders, Crimson Tide and Spartans for second place in Division 1. All three teams finished 7-5 in league. The wild card berth will be settled on Friday in a playoff doubleheader at Pine Grove. Tamaqua received a bye into the playoff final. Pottsville and North Schuylkill will play at 4:30 p.m. Tamaqua faces the winner at 7 p.m.
Against Lehighton, Thad Zuber and Nate Boyle each homered and drove in two runs for the Raiders (9-8, 7-5). Tate Ligenza and Brayden Knoblauch each scored a run.
For the Indians (7-11, 2-10), Chris Whiteman had two hits and Mike Bozilesky smashed a home run.

Jake Taras fired a two-hitter as Panther Valley rolled to a 15-0 Schuylkill League victory over Mahanoy Area.
Taras struck out six as the Panthers needed just four innings to secure their 10th victory of the season, which clinched a District 11 playoff berth.
Panther Valley (10-7, 6-7) got offensive contributions from Aaron Miller, Josh Robin, Jon Hafer and Wyatt Zimmerman, who all had two hits.

Benjamin Stokes had two hits to lead the Mounties.

Minersville rallied to edge Marian in a nine-inning Schuylkill League battle, 7-6.
Aaron Mason, Matt Doherty, and Chris Latoff all had three hits for the Colts.
Ryan Cappel tossed six innings and yielded only one run while striking out eight in a no-decision.
The Miners scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and force extra innings.

Tamaqua scored three runs in the first inning en route to a 5-1 Schuylkill League win over Lehighton.
Miranda Chinchar was 4-for-4 from the dish to lead the Raiders. Brook Zellner cranked a homer and drove in three runs, while Courtney Hoffman had two singles and scored twice.
Emily Greene had a single, a double, and scored a run for the Indians.
