A look back: May 10, 1978

Operation Space Saver has been launched in the Carbon County Courthouse, thanks to funding through the Comprehensive Employment Training Act.

The county commissioners announced Tuesday two 3M Company microfilm system units have been installed in the office of Prothonotary Joseph Modrick.

The 3401 Wide Document Cartridge Camera and 600 Microfilm Reader-Printer were purchased at a cost of about $10,000 under the CETA program through the Schuylkill-Carbon Agency on Manpower.

The camera has a microfilm speed of 975 inches or 7,800 computer lines per minute. This equipment will permit the removal of bulky legal documents once they are microfilmed.
