High fire risk today

A red flag warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. today. Winds will be Southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, with relative humidity as low as 20 to 25 percent. Temperatures are in the lower to mid 80s, except mid to upper 70s near the coast and in the southern Poconos.

The combination of low fuel moisture, low relative humidity, and gusty winds may contribute to the enhanced spread of fires.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels. Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain.
