A former Carbon County resident was sentenced to a county prison term on Tuesday afternoon on a drug-related charge.

Brandice A. Boner, 36, formerly of Nesquehoning and now living in Tamaqua, was sentenced to serve 11 to one day less 24 months on a charge of criminal use of a communication facility. She previously pleaded to the charge.

She was arrested on Feb. 16, 2017, in the 400 block of West Catawissa Street in Nesquehoning. Police were conducting an investigation of drug dealing in the area and obtained a search warrant. Two bundles of heroin and 18 baggies were found in the home. Police said drug sales were being made out of the residence.

Charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy were dropped in a plea bargain.

Boner admitted to being a recovering addict. She spent 37 days in an inpatient rehabilitation program but relapsed. She said she is currently in an outpatient program.

Nanovic also ordered her to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance imposed on drug or alcohol use, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000, attend parenting classes and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.

She was given credit for 49 days spent in jail on the charge. She will begin the jail term at 4 p.m. on May 4.
