Eight first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.

Manuel A. Agosto

, 30, of Central Islip, New York, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence. He was arrested on Dec. 7, 2017, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Allyson Rose Fox

, 22, of Shoemakersville, Berks County, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on Sept. 18, 2016, along Route 534 in Albrightsville by Kidder Township police.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Kieran Gill

, 18, of Philadelphia, was placed on a charge of resisting arrest. She was arrested on Jan. 5 by Lansford police in the area of 123 E. Patterson St., where police responded to a report of a fight in progress. Gill was involved in the incident.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Olga Gomez-Irizarry

, 25, of Summit Hill, was placed on a charge of criminal trespass. She was arrested on Feb. 2 by Summit Hill police for entering a property along East White Street.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and make restitution for damages of $437.50.

Matthew Sean Helmer

, 20, of Albrightsville, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on April 4, 2017, by Kidder Township police. He was charged with 16 criminal counts, including 12 drug-related counts. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 90 days.

Jerry Isaac Olivencia-Rodriguez

, 27, of Lansford, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Sept. 6, 2017, by Lansford police along Patterson Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Julio C. Vasquez

, 26, of Hazleton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Aug. 12, 2017, along I-80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.

Benjamin Wiessner

, 20, of Mahanoy City, was placed on a charge of criminal mischief. He was arrested on June 4, 2017, by Weatherly police for an incident in which a 2006 Chevrolet sedan belonging to John Hinkle was damaged.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution of $794.71, which is his share as there are four defendants in the case, and have no contact with the victim.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and those charged with DUI must follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
