Thorpe’s Williams will play soccer at Emerson

Christopher Williams of Jim Thorpe High School will continue has academic and athletic career at Emerson College in Boston, Mass.

Williams will major in journalism at Emerson and also play on the men’s soccer team.

At Jim Thorpe, Williams was a four-year varsity letterwinner, playing the center midfield position. He was a prolific offensive force during his career, scoring 33 goals and racking up 48 assists.

Williams, a team captain this past season, helped Jim Thorpe compile a 16-7 record and set the school record for wins in a season. Thorpe also reached the Schuylkill League finals and the District 11 semifinals, recording the first district playoff victory in school history along the way.

For his contributions to the Olympians’ record-breaking season, Williams was named a 2018 Schuylkill League First Team All-Star, the 2018 Schuylkill County Youth Soccer Association Scholar Athlete winner from Jim Thorpe, and was a 2018 Lehigh Valley Soccer Scholar Athlete nominee.

Among his other school activities are: National Honor Society (vice president), Spanish National Honor Society, Ski Club, Scholastic Scrimmage team, marching band, jazz/concert band, and Student School Wide Positive Behavior team. In addition, Williams is an Eagle Scout and a member of the Carbon County Band.

Christopher is the son of David and Suzanne Williams.
